The digitization of commuter rail services within the Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg (VGN) is revolutionizing administrative processes, ticket ordering, and data and process management. Okari has supported the success of VGNsmaxi from the very beginning: by conducting a feasibility study, developing a detailed technical concept, assisting with the tendering and awarding process, providing project management during implementation, and continuing to support system administration during operation.
Challenge
Manual processes that have evolved over time and inconsistent structures for ticket purchases and service requests place a heavy burden on customers, transit companies, and public authorities. Processing large volumes of data is time-consuming, error-prone, and outdated. Different roles and permissions hinder efficient collaboration. The challenge lies in integrating all stakeholders, digitizing complex workflows, and simultaneously ensuring user-friendliness and data security for students, parents, and authorities.
Solution
With great passion, perseverance, and the involvement of numerous stakeholders, we are analyzing all processes related to student transportation within the VGN region, identifying requirements, and developing concepts. Administrative processes are being digitized and sales processes harmonized—laying the groundwork for the digital VGN student platform. The result is a user-friendly, web-based platform that automates ticketing processes, application submissions, and revenue sharing—while taking into account the different rights and roles of users.
